ZOS - True Colors

ZOS - True Colors

Most people rely on the Media such as Fashion Websites, TV, Magazines etc to stay informed with upcoming Fashion Trends, Colors and Styles, but needless to say, I for some reason don't.  I do believe to keep current in Fashion, but when it comes to trends, I don't like to follow trends, I like to say, I set them.  One of the main reasons why I don't follow the media is because, being a designer, I like to keep the ideas and the natural gift I have, not swayed or influenced by any means through other styles or designs.

Such Trends, for example, Ed Hardy, Uggs, Toms, Trucker Hats or whatever else that was "HOT" at the time, believe it or not, I've never and still do not own up until this day.  Check my closet lol, for evidence, I swear to you.  I've always strived and is in my nature to not be or have what the "mainstream" has or is wearing.  My Fashion Sense is to not be like the masses.  I like to be different and unique in my own style.  I wear what I wear because I love it, not because it is "IN" the "NOW".

When I shop I always look for key pieces that everyone else wouldn't have, that aren't common, and wouldn't gravitate to.  In addition, another reason why I like to go to specific stores and places I know a lot of people wouldn't know of.  It is crucial most especially if I love a piece, knowing that more than one person will have and will be wearing that I either don't buy it or rock it differently, my way.  I guess that's the gift of being a Stylist and Designer, I can do that.  I've realized that it definitely doesn't come as easy or natural; to say the least for most (or some)... that's why we are here for you :)

I share with you one of my favorite quotes.  I totally live by it and agree with it.

  Style is Independent of Fashion.

Those who have style can indeed accept or ignore Fashion.

For them Fashion is not something to be followed, it is rather something to be set, to

select from or totally reject.

Style is spontaneous, inborn. It is the gloriously deliberate, unpremeditated but

divine gift of the few.

Nevertheless, it is and can be beneficial to know the Fashion Trends for each current season, the difference is either following it or using it in a way to make it completely your own; is the challenge.  This is what we call STYLE.  Try it and see how you do, but if not leave it up to the professionals, it's what WE DO! ;)

Not only does color affect our moods and emotions, color is a form of non verbal communication.  It is not a static energy and its meaning can change from one day to the next with any individual.  In Fashion, color is a representation of ones personality.  It is an artistic form of expression that makes everyone unique in their own individual style.  You can see ones Fashion sense and originality just by the clothes and colors they wear.  One that loves color, such as myself, I am able to express my individuality by the color, styles, texture and patterns that I choose to showcase to the world.  Fashion is Art.  Again, a non verbal form of communication.  How lovely is that?  Without even saying a word, you can already know ones identity just by what they are wearing!  And this is why you see so many types of Fashion through certain groups of people just by color association.  Also, depending on your mood, determines what you decide to wear for the day.  Usually when you are sad or down, you would tend to wear black, but when you are happy and in good spirits, you are drawn to wear bright colors such as yellow, orange or pink.

However your mood and whatever you may feel, express it to the world and show the world your TRUE COLORS.  A representation of YOU.  LOVE YOURSELF for who you are, in the choices you make, in the clothes that you wear and in the Fashion that defines YOU.

There's a part in the movie Sex and the City 2, where Big gives Carrie a black diamond ring.  She asks, "Why'd you get a black diamond?"  He responds, "Because you're not like anyone else".  I immediately related to this quote, based on the intricate woman that I am and have been told... ;)  But my color is yellow. <3

Then, the song True Colors by Cindy Lauper plays.  By far one of my favorite scenes of the movie.  I knew the title of my blog would be TRUE COLORS because color is an expression of who I am and what I love.  So, go do what you love and be in it, in all your glory!

What is Color?

The quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation and brightness of the reflected light; saturation or chroma; hue.

Color is all around us.  That is the beauty of our world.  Without color we would be living in a world of black and white, just like in the early 1900's.  Color invigorates our soul, recharges and stimulates us or the reverse effect, calms us down, creates feelings of happiness and sadness; all in one!  It is through The Psychology of Color, that color can dramatically affect moods, feelings and emotions.  It is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood and even cause physiological reactions.

Colors in the red area of the color spectrum are known as warm colors and evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.  Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feeling of sadness or indifference.
